About Us
Chicago Importing Company is a family owned and operated business committed to importing fine food and confectionery products from Scandinavia and Northern Europe and working with distributors to build a nationwide network of distribution.
In 1938, Chicago Importing Company began in the historic market district in Chicago. The company was acquired in 1996 by current owner and president, Lars Berntson, a 20-year veteran of the specialty food importing and distribution business.
In April 2007, Chicago Importing Company acquired Westdale Foods Company, an importer and distributor of many fine product lines, mostly from Germany and the Netherlands.

OUR FACILITIES
Chicago Importing Company is located in Elgin, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago and minutes off of Illinois Interstate 90 (a major U.S. highway).
Our 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse includes refrigerated and frozen storage as well as temperature controlled areas for candy/chocolate and dry goods.
SUPPORT
Chicago Importing Company receives advisory support from our honorary Chairman, Jack Berntson. Mr. Berntson retired from an illustrious career in the specialty foods industry.
